Tumblr.com – Blogs with Less Fuss March 13, 2007

Posted by Ced in Blog, Services.

Tumblr.com is your friendly, free, and terrifically easy tool for creating tumblelogs. Tumblelogs are like blogs with less fuss. To make a simple analogy: If blogs are journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks.

“Blogs are great, but they can be a lot of work. And they’re really built to handle longer-form text posts. Tumblelogs, on the other hand, let you easily and quickly post and share anything you find or create.” [tumblr.com]

I’ve been trying out the service for a few days now (http://ced.tumblr.com/), and I love the the concept! I believe there are things that you want to log on the web, but don’t really need or want much text for it. For me, the absence of a commenting system states that tumblelogs are meant to be just viewed and enjoyed, without asking anybody’s 2 cents. And yes, sometimes, just a quote, picture, or link is enough.
