Wakoopa – What Software Are You Using? May 8, 2007

Posted by Ced in Services, Software.

Wakoopa.com is an online service that lets you create your software profile and share it with the rest of the world.

After signing up with the service, you install a software application that tracks the software you use on your computer. It reports the software list to the wakoopa servers every 15 minutes, and places it in your profile. You are informed of new updates of the identified software that you use, and also reviews from other Wakoopa users.

The service attempts to give “identities” to users by the individual software applications they use on their computer. I’m not sure if people will embrace the “call home” application, although this type of software is not uncommon to popular applications and/or operating systems. Will Wakoopa be a popular service? Time will tell.
