LaptopGiving.org – Give One Get One Program December 5, 2007

Posted by Ced in Services, Tech.

LaptopGiving.org wants to address the digital divide in the world, by making computers available to children of developing countries.

“The mission of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child. In order to accomplish our goal, we need people who believe in what we’re doing and want to help make education for the world’s children a priority, not a privilege.” [OLPC]

You can help OLPC’s mission thru their Give One Get One program in the US and Canada. During Give One Get One, you can donate the revolutionary XO laptop to a child in a developing nation, and also receive one for the child in your life in recognition of your contribution.

Well, if you live in the US or Canada, you can give one laptop to someone living in a developing country, and you will also receive one for yourself. 🙂
In case you are the one residing in a developing country, maybe you could inform your relatives or friends living in the US or Canada about OLPC. Good luck!

I am not sure how to go about this. We are involved with an organization named Harvest India 1527 Sylvia Lane….New Port Beach, California 92660….USA This is the address in America. Please have the appropriate person contact them to see what it would take to get the babies in India some of these computers. The minute I saw this program, I thought of these children that we have served on mission trips. This is a very reputable organization and would really appreciate you connecting with them.

I believe that the organization in the US could coordinate with the OLPC foundation regarding this. They can go to the following site for more info:

I hope you get the XO laptops soon!

I would like to give one and get one. I would love to make them available to those who can use them. Would you send one to a child somewhere and send me the “get one?”
