Untiny.me is a webapp that extracts the original URL from the shortened one, revealing just where it is you are headed to.

is.gd is new a URL shortener service, similar to RURL.org.
“is.gd is a service that shortens URLs such as web addresses. This is useful in many circumstances (see below) e.g. in email clients that break long URLs. Our goal is to allow shortening URLs to the maximum extent technically possible.” [is.gd]
URL shorteners are a great tool, especially for posting at microblogging and presence updates services. And yes, useful for email too!
